The market for aircraft engines and stationary turbomachinery has changed in the last years significantly. Development cycles and time to market have become shorter due to new engine concepts as well as new applications for stationary turbomachinery.
Dealing with the impacts of the climate change, and digitalization on industry and society is one of the key questions for manufacturers of engines and stationary turbomachinery as well as for the suppliers. Companies therefore need innovative approaches along the entire lifecycle to meet future challenges in manufacturing and repair. Heat-resistant materials, complex geometries and integral components are but a few of the features of turbomachinery components. The manufacturing of components requires maximum part qualities with increasing requirements for productivity economics and ecologic footprint.
Future approaches can only be realized when applying new manufacturing technologies and alternative process chains. For transition of the required complex manufacturing processes to an industrial scale, an integrative-interdisciplinary approach is sufficient.
