Can part quality be increased by a locally adapted LPBF process control

Challenge and Motivation

  • Currently LPBF process parameters are kept constant and are not adjusted to the part geometry.
  • Result are deviations in geometry and part quality e.g. in filigree areas of the part, as well as restrictions in productivity and process robustness.

Objective

  • Development of strategies for adaptive LPBF process control by adaption of energy input.
  • Comparison with conventional process control and other approaches such as the use of local sleep times.
