Challenge and Motivation
- LMD processes are suitable for near-net-shape additive manufacturing of rotationally symmetrical components such as turbine housings to substitute existing process chains.
- For the process to be competitive, an increase in the application rates above 1 kg/h is required while maintaining thin wall thicknesses.
Objective
- Demonstration of an economic and competitive LMD process to manufacture a cylindrical component with elevated deposition rates.
