What are suitable process monitoring concepts for LPBF and what are their potentials?

Challenge and Motiviation 

• Process monitoring systems offer great potential for quality control as well as feedback control of the LPBF process.
• The goal is to establish a correlation between measuring signals and part quality (defects).
• However, reliable and fast process monitoring systems need still to be developed.

Objective

• Acquire an overview of current as well as potential future process monitoring tools and concepts.
